The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, D.C. Area, Inc. (“APABA-DC”) held its 2013 Awards and Installation Dinner on September 12, 2013 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. As “the oldest and largest association of Asian Pacific American attorneys in the Washington, D.C. area,” APABA-DC has been the forefront of the professional growth and advancement of Asian American legal community, and the cultivation of the Asian Pacific American (“APA”) community.
Traditionally, the Awards and Installation Dinner is an opportunity to recognize the APA leaders in the legal profession and to celebrate the new board members of the organization. This year’s awards and honorees were as follows:
• Member Appreciation Award: The 2012 NAPABA Convention Planning Committee
• Pioneer Award: The Honorable John Tran, Virginia Circuit Court
• Rising Star Awards: Elbert Lin, Solicitor General of West Virginia and Thomas Lue, former Acting General Counsel of the White House Office of Management and Budget
• Community Appreciation Award: The late Laura Rinaldi of the DC Bar Pro Bono Immigration Legal Advice Clinic
DLA Piper was a proud sponsor of the event, and several diverse attorneys of the firm were in attendance.
Once again, DLA Piper would like to congratulate the honorees and the new board members of APABA-DC!
